Kevin Miles is one of those rare people who can say he is a CEO, consultant, coach and speaker and mean it. His belief is that in order to provide the most effective, efficient and productive results for his clients, his hands-on experience as a CEO, CFO and COO, as well as a founder of 9 companies, is an essential asset. He has lived and worked in the world in which his clients live and work each day. In addition, his years as an arbitrator and mediator provide insight into the challenges and conflicts faced by business leaders, and led him to publish articles on those experiences.
Early in his career, he was recruited as an executive and internal consultant at a large government contracting organization. Upon successful completion of that assignment, he was assigned to projects with the Department of Defense and the Navy. Following his passion for business and entrepreneurship, he accepted a position to turnaround a fledgling business, was named CEO and led that business to 22 consecutive years of growth and expansion into 6 companies, in 5 industries.
After presenting a workshop at an industry convention, he was approached by the CEO of a west coast company for advice and assistance. Subsequently, while continuing as CEO of his businesses, he was approached by many other CEOs and business owners requesting advice, assistance and direction with challenges ranging from stagnant growth to lagging profits, strategy, leadership development, merger and acquisition assistance, change management, operations, dispute resolution, business turnarounds and exit strategies. In 1998, after 13 years of assisting other CEO’s (while continuing as CEO of his own businesses), Kevin acknowledged that his passion is in assisting CEOs and executives to overcome challenges and achieve their goals & objectives, and he stepped-down as CEO to follow his passion.
His speaking typically includes keynotes, workshops and seminars for business owners, CEOs and executives. He has served as a volunteer and a consultant for the Bucknell University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) as well as an officer and board member of several industry associations and non-profits. He serves on the board of several closely held corporations and served for 12 years on the board of what is now Wachovia Bank, a Wells Fargo Company.
Kevin has assisted dozens of organizations to overcome their challenges and to achieve their stretch goals. He is a skilled listener. Kevin’s opinion and the assistance that he provides are backed by integrity, are direct (no sugar coating), crystal clear (not abstruse) and may include a healthy contrarian perspective.
